The Connemara 12 is just about one of the only peated Irish whiskeys available on the market. If you want to know why there aren’t more, you could blow $55 and take a sip of this stuff.

Not the most expensive Irish, nor the fanciest, but it’s permanently on my mind when it comes to gifting for several good reasons.

A usually-boring scotch label tries out an exciting concept for a brand extension. Surprise! It’s still boring.

A “budget” single malt scotch with an age statement? Sure! It’s suspiciously cheap, but don’t let that deter you from a try.

A "meh" product from a distillery that does pretty good work. Here, Espolon tries to gun for two flavor profiles at once and I don't think they pull it off.

A long one for today, guys and gals, but I hope you'll indulge me. Avión is drinkable proof that positioning and branding is more than just fluff, as it can actually come to affect the taste of what ends up in your glass. And not in a wholly bad way.
